20 Budget Backsplash Ideas
The kitchen is the heart of your home and anchors your entire decorating scheme, that’s why I think backsplashes are one of the most important elements in home design. Backsplashes and interior lighting are the first elements that date your home. You can typically pinpoint when a home was last updated based on whatever style the backsplash style is.

Above: My stenciled backsplash, total cost = under $150
Today I was asked by the Hometalk team to create a round up of budget friendly back splashes. I saw some incredibly beautiful, yet simple ideas. From hanging mirrors, to peel and stick floorboards, to bead board–I loved them all. The ideas I showcased today offer simple, inexpensive and easy alternatives to make a quick update to your backsplash without the need for complicated equipment, and would be great for a beginning DIYer.

When I started doing home DIY three years ago, I knew that my choice of backsplash would be critical since my home is an open concept and my kitchen is open to the rest of the house. I wanted to be sure I made the right decisions, so I posted a few questions along with pictures on Hometalk. Before I knew it, I knew exactly what direction I would go for my new backsplash.

Here is a recent picture of the backsplash. Still holding up after all this time.

Jeanette, I LOVE your stenciled back splash and so many of the ideas you shared and chose. Our 93 year old kitchen is pretty outdated and we updated it with paint but a pretty backsplash may be the next thing we need. Thank you for sharing all these great ideas at the Something to Talk About Link Party too. Have a great week, Lisa
Your cottage is so pretty Lisa I’m sure anything you do in there is going to be insanely beautiful. I’m just starting to get into link parties now that I’m blogging full time and all I can say is…what a blast! Thanks so much for inviting me to link up and for your kind words.
