The sunroom paint project was inspired by a picture that I took of the room last winter.
I knew I wanted to make some changes and didn’t exactly have a room filled with the right furniture, but I still wasn’t sure where to start. Usually when I photograph a room, I can suddenly see it more clearly and in a completely different way. To start, we had to address some structural issues so we added the wooden beams to solve a falling drywall tape problem.
The walls managed to get scuffed up a bit, which called for paint anyway. But what struck me about this room was how “vanilla” it looked. I love contrast, and this space simply didn’t have enough of it. To see how the room has evolved over time…here is a look back.
Above, before the blog: 10 years ago, shortly after we moved in and I had absolutely NO furniture, and everything was white (which is of course, in style again!) Creating a home definitely takes time…especially when you have no heirlooms or hand me downs. Table from Crate & Barrel. Chairs from Target. And my baby girl playing with her “Bob the Builder” hard hat on. That’s my girl!
Above, installing the floors. My decorating style always evolves towards earthy, woodsy colors. A few photos eventually inspired me even more…

Thanks Chloe! I really wrestled with whether I should go dark in this room…but in the end, it’s just paint, right? 🙂 Thanks for taking the time to comment!
